What is Xin Yi Liu He Quan? Xin Yi Liu He Quan originally comes from Henan province. It is to be distinguished from other styles of Xing Yi(Hsing Yi) originating from Hebei and Shanxi provinces. It is a style originally created by Chinese Moslems to protect themselves and was not taught publicly. In practice, it is believed to be much closer in style to the original Xin Yi Quan of General Yue Fe the founder of the Xing Yi style. Fighters of this style were often considered the most fearsome of fighters. For fighting, the whole body is used and any part of the body can be used as a strike. Lu Song Gao was one of the first to bring Xin Yi Liu He Quan to the city of Shanghai and also one of the first to teach the art to non moslem Chinese. Sometimes it is refered to as Henan or 10 animal Xin Yi. The movements were inspired by those of animals so we have movements such as the Dragon,Bear, tiger, monkey, snake, horse, chicken, hawk, eagle, swallow. When learning Xin Yi, movements are usually taught and practiced first as single movement exercises and then practiced in repetition as lines drills. The forms in Xin Yi tend to be shorter then other forms of Kung Fu and sometimes are practiced in small sequences of movements. The movements are practiced for precision and effortlessness.  Move Like Water School of Tai Chi and the Internal Martial Arts   631-974-2462   taihogoji108@yahoo.com
